Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 June 2026

This policy explains how Caliber (“we”, “us”) collects and uses your personal data and your rights under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR. The data controller is Ranjay Kumar (operating "Caliber"), contactable at shandilya.ranjay@gmail.com.

1. Data we collect

  • Account: email, name, and a salted password hash (never your plain password).
  • Career profile: skills and proficiencies, target roles/locations, work experience, résumé variants and any résumé files you upload.
  • Lab OS: your engineering notes/RCAs and any capture files (images, traces) you upload.
  • Projects, applications & interview cards: content and notes you create, including application status and outcomes.
  • Job data you import: job postings you choose to bring into the app (“bring-your-own”).
  • Technical: one essential session cookie, and standard server logs (e.g. IP address) used for security and rate limiting.

2. How and why we use it (legal bases)

  • To provide the service — match scoring, skill-gap analysis, tracking (basis: performance of a contract).
  • Email verification & service emails (basis: consent / contract).
  • Security, abuse prevention, rate limiting (basis: legitimate interests).

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

3. Sharing & processors

We share data only with infrastructure providers acting on our instructions:

  • Hosting (e.g. Vercel) and database (e.g. a managed PostgreSQL provider).
  • Transactional email (e.g. Resend) and file storage (e.g. Vercel Blob), when enabled.

Some processors may be located outside the UK/EEA; where so, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses). Data is only made public if you explicitly share a profile link or mark items as portfolio.

4. Retention

We keep your data until you delete it. Deleting your account (Settings → Delete account) permanently removes all your personal data; some minimal security logs may persist briefly before rotation.

5. Your rights

  • Access & portability — download all your data anytime via Settings → Export.
  • Rectification — edit your profile and content in-app.
  • Erasure — delete your account in-app.
  • Restriction, objection, and withdrawal of consent — contact us.
  • Complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

6. Security

Passwords are hashed, sessions use opaque tokens, traffic is encrypted in transit, and authentication and ingestion are rate-limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures.

7. Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. No analytics or advertising cookies.

8. Children

Caliber is not directed to anyone under 16. Do not use it if you are under 16.

9. Changes & contact
